Fall is my favorite time of year to dress. It's not so cold that it's all covered up by a big, puffy winter parka and it's not too hot to wear some layers. Give me all the layers!
There are 5 fall fashion staples I think every mom should have in their wardrobe that will add some pizzazz. You can layer and mix and match to make several outfits and look put together when you walk out the door. There is just something about it that puts a confident pep in my step.
1 - pair of jeans
We have had babies, our bodies aren't quite as elastic as they once were so a good pair of jeans is a MUST. Jean shopping might be my least favorite but when you find a pair that fits, the kind that don't make you do lunges and squats just to be comfy, it's like hitting the jackpot. I just added the cute grey pair for the fall!
2- layering cardigan
A neutral cardigan you can throw over a pattered tank, a silk blouse or a button up is key. It adds instant texture and the additional layer will keep you warm in the air conditioning and those cool evenings outside. Black, grey, cream, blush, wine, and navy are all good color options.
3 - pendant necklace
Jewelry just takes any outfit up a notch. A pendant necklace is so easy to just throw right on over any neckline. You can find them on sale all over the place so no need to spend a ton of money.
4 - booties
It took me a while to get on the booties train but I am a fan now. This year I invested and by invested I mean I got those $52 ones below. I am short and my hubby is tall so I like to add a little height to help my legs look longer and leaner.
5 - fun tee
Grab a new striped tee or a fun silk blouse to wear and then eventually layer with your cardigan and jeans. It's fun to get a new top!
If you invest in these 5 items and then spend some time pairing them with other items in your closet, you will be feeling good sweet koko! I know, as moms we tend to be the last ones on the shopping list, but it doesn't take a ton of money to invest in each of these items.
You can do it all for under $100 so ask for some money for your birthday or sock away the savings from your grocery budget. I promise you a little investment in your wardrobe will add some pep in your step and help you keep on keeping on this fall.
