10 Reasons I Love My Home

Monday, September 11, 2017
Happy Monday sweet kokos!  I am so glad to be typing on my computer for this post - wahoo!  As an aside, I just can't believe all that is going on in the world right now from fires in the PNW, to an earthquake in Mexico, to not one but two major hurricanes wrecking havoc in the USA.  My inlaws are waiting to hear how their home faired in Irma.  Everyone continues to be in my prayers.

In true KOKO spirit,  we will keep on keeping on with some fun with the next installment of the10 on the 10th link-up.  Today we are talking all about things we love about our home.  I can't wait to see what you love.  I have given you a home tour before, so you can check that out here!

|| one - our house ||

We partially built this home 4 and a half years ago.  I knew what I wanted as far as layout and when I walked in with just sheet rock on the walls, I knew it was "the one".  I love the basketball hoop and those white rocking chairs.  We spend many afternoons and evenings out front watching the kids ride bikes, talking to neighbors and catching up on our days!

|| two -- our entry way ||

Reason #1, I love our entry way is the front porch decor (right now my ferns) and the view of the dresser that used to sit in my home as a kid.  We moved around a lot but my mom always put this dresser in the entry of every home we lived in.  It just makes me happy seeing it.

I also love our two story foyer.  My mom used to decorate our various staircases with beautiful lit garlands every Christmas and I always dreamed I would have a staircase to do the same.

|| three -- family room / open floor plan ||

We love to have people over and host a weekly couple small group in our home.  I love that there is enough space for people to hang out and it flows right into the dining area and kitchen.  The back of our home is one big rectangle and I love that it has an open feel.

|| four -- office ||

When we moved in, this space had a little tykes yellow cottage in it but once we finished the basement  (which I also love) we were able to move that downstairs, paint some old shelving, cut our old dining table in half and mount it on the wall for my office space.  I spend lots of time blog writing right there!

|| five - mudroom ||

This was another space I wanted in our home when we were looking.  We have a coat closet and these lockers.  Each kid has one of those black storage boxes for all their shoes and we have an extra for all those winter accessories.

The closet holds all the coats that we are not using in a given season as well as all our boots and Scott's shoes.  We installed some hooks this fall for the kids coats & backpacks at their height to help them independently take care of their belongings.

|| six - pantry ||

This space has been so helpful to store over flow small kitchen appliances, Vera's art cart, extra supplies and food of course.  I hope to one day put in some solid shelves but for now, although, it isn't pretty, it is a work horse.

|| seven -- our updated bedroom ||

We just finished a few little tweaks in there, spraying all the dresser and side table hardware a brushed gold as well as adding some shelving and a plant ($13 peace lily from Wal-Mart) in a corner of our room.  I still have my eye out for a headboard but for now (like this one) but it's a great place to retreat to at the end of the day.  I love reading and having my tea before bed.

|| eight - concealed toy storage ||

At the end of the day, I just need to put some of the many toys away so we turned our front coat closet into a toy closet.  We just have a coat tree by the front door now for guests.  We rotate out the toys from a slightly bigger basement toy closet on occasion.   Most of the kids toys are sorted into tubs so it is easy to move them between floors.

|| nine - laundry pass through ||

Our master bedroom closet and laundry room are right next door so I had Scott make a little pass through so we could easily throw our clothes right into the clothes hamper below it.  It also helps to just lay clothes that need to be hung in our closet there too.

|| ten -- our backyard cornfield ||

One of our favorite parts about our house is the backyard is a corn field.  It provides the best sunsets and is just so fun to watch change as the seasons do.  It also makes our backyard pretty private which we enjoy.  Someday soon, they will develop it into more homes but for now we LOVE our cornfield!

  17. Nothing is more awful than spending your cash for a machine that won't fit into the space accessible. Along these lines, it is basic to do some measuring before you buy anything, particularly extensive apparatuses. top 5 toastmaster machines
