Happy Easter! What a gift God gave us when Jesus went to the cross, died and then rose again! For many years I just wasn't sure where I was headed when this life is over. You can read more about my faith journey here. I am so thankful. The gospel changes everything. If you have any questions, please email me.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We had a great weekend celebrating with both sides of our family! Scott's sister's family only lives about 45 minutes away from my parents. Our niece turned 13 on the 13th so we headed up after schoo on Thursday to enjoy a long weekend. We arrived just in time for cake!
My kids LOVE their cousins! We hung out at their home, had lunch at Freddy's, played board games and chatted while the kids played, played, played!
We concluded our stay with a very competitive kids vs. adults kickball game. It was so much fun. We ALMOST won but the kids pulled it out in the end.
Not the thumbs down (by our son) in this picture. Raquel and I are just waiting on our contracts to roll in. We were on fire! After the game, we had a quick, delicious dinner. They are amazing cooks and then headed over to my parents for the rest of the weekend.
My grandparents, Aunt and cousins joined us at the lake on Saturday for egg coloring, lunch and our annual Easter egg hunts. We had fun coloring eggs. Lucy kept saying, "wow!" every time I pulled the egg out of the water! Vera and I were the only ones left at the table, she of course LOVED it!
My mom started money egg hunts several years ago and they are VERY competitive (are you sensing competition is a strong familial trait, you would be correct ;). She hides 48 eggs for the adults and we go searching. This year Scott and I won over $90. Now you see why #gameon.
The kids had their own money egg hunt too with coins and dollar bills. They were so excited! then Lucy had her own with little animals tucked into hers! We finished the day with a delicious meal and s'mores by the fire. We also played two very competitive rounds of Settlers of Catan, a family favorite!
Everyone was up bright and early to see what the Easter Bunny brought! Then it was time for my grandparents to head back home and we needed to get ready to head to church! We of course attempted family photos but it was sunny, slightly windy and with children SO we took about 500 and this was the best we got. ;)
We wrapped up the day with a yummy BBQ lunch on the porch and a quick hot tub swim and some "polar bear plunging" into the lake. Even momma dipped her toes into that lake and then ran back to the hot tub! Before we knew it, we needed to pack up and head home! It was a lovely weekend visiting family and celebrating our Savior's resurrection!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We are all sinners, every single one of us, but the good news is Jesus went to the cross for all of our sin - past, present, and future. We need to confess that we know we are sinners, understand He died for us and accept the gift that is in Jesus alone. The gift of eternal life. When we accept Him into our life, He gifts us with the Holy Spirit to help us navigate this life!
If you declare with your your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Happy Easter! He is risen, He is risen indeed. May you know Jesus as YOUR Lord and Savior. That is my prayer for each of us my friends :) xoxo ERIN
