21 Days of Seeing the Small...

I can easily succumb to grumbling.

Grumbling about crumbs on the floor, toys strewn about the carpet, another pair of dirty underwear left in the bathroom, toothpaste in the sink, and the list goes on and on.

I can get my panties in a bunch in no time flat.

I have found the greatest antidote to grumbling is gratitude.

Gratitude doesn't come naturally to us, at least not to me.  It takes practice, persistence and patience but all things worth achieving are worth the effort.  Gratitude is no exception.

They (whoever those wise "They" are) say it takes 21 days to master a skill.  You may have heard of the 21 day fix program?  The premise is, it takes 21 days to take a skill and make it a habit.

We often will take 21 days to refine our food choices or our physical fitness goals but when was the last time I took 21 days to realign my eyes to see gratitude in the small things and work out my spiritual fitness.  God desires a grateful heart.

So, I invite you to join me as I prepare my heart for Thanksgiving and spend the next 21 Days leading up to Thanksgiving, Seeing the Small.  Gather up a journal and pen a few things you are grateful for from your day, snap a picture, or comment on my posts.  Let's be intentional about seeing the good in our world, no better time than in the midst of division and hatred.  God hasn't disappeared, He is still with us.

My prayer is in these next 21 days that I wake up everyday ready to truly see what God has given me and focus on that.  In that the crumbs on the floor mean there are babies that need us, toys on the floor mean there are healthy kids to play with them, toothpaste in the sink means your kids are in fact brushing their teeth and that underwear well at least they have some to wear!

No matter the season, God is worthy of our praise.  If you want to know my faith story, read here.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
{1 Thes. 5:18}

I am also gathering ideas on how to incorporate gratitude into our homes.  I NEED YOU!  If you have an idea to share, please leave a comment with your name and blog address, email me {Perfectlyportfamily@gmail.com} or tag me in a picture on instagram, I would love to feature you in the post on Friday, November 18th.

It's 21 days until Thanksgiving, let's start our regimen to fixing our eyes on all God's blessings in our lives.  #21daysofseeingthesmall  I will be sharing mine on my Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Until then,  let's spend the next 21 days leading up to Thanksgiving seeing the small.
