Happy Birthday Grandma...

Thursday, January 3, 2013
My mom has had a bang up year nd has come out on top so we thought she deserved a little extra celebration and surprised her with a little evening out with the gang.  She is hard to surprise but she had NO idea and secretly texted the game plan...we started off the evening at Django.  If you have never been, I highly recommend it.  It has amazing French food (my mama's favorite) and to top it off, there is no cork fee.  Enter our own celebratory champagne.  We gave her our gifts and enjoyed dinner while taking turns of walking Vera (15 month olds and fancy joints don't mix).  After, we headed to Jolly Holiday Lights, the "I love Christmas" gene comes from her.  I got it!  She enjoyed holding both Vera and Solon in her lap as we cruised at snail speed through the park.  It was so much fun!  Ellen and I got the way back...but we survived without poking each other (ah the good old days!).
When we got home we cracked open the cake from Highland Park Bakery - Champagne cake, anyone? YUM!  I was not on top of my game and only scrounged up 2 candles, par for the course these days but my mom has been there, done that and knew the lack of candles did not reflect love, just lack of sleep!
She loved the singing by her grandbabies and ceremonial "honk, honk, honk" at the end...
...and then since there were so many candles, she had help blowing them out!
Happy 55th Birthday Mom!  We are so incredibly blessed to have you in our lives.  You are an incredible lady!  Thanks for letting us have a fun night out to celebrate...
