This is the 2nd year we have made an effort to find a date that works for our community group to head out to Jester Park (a state park nearby). This year it coincided with Father's Day, which was perfect since the boys went golfing afterwards out there while the mamas took the tired, dirty, and
growly happy children home!
First stop was the naturscape. It is such fun for all ages with a little natural swimming pool, fountains, sand pits, and more....Vera enjoyed splashing and trying to catch the water.
...and this little guy is just 10 days younger than V, he is moving to MN, I think he will fit in just fine with his axe!
Hanging out in the middle of the pond, looks like daddy had has hands full...
We sent the boys ahead to start the grill and then we all regrouped to have a BBQ lunch, each family bringing a little something to round out the yummy picnic. Remember potlucks work great as they all want to eat the exact same thing...and they were hungry after playing at the playscape and then the nearby playground...although they also enjoyed running around in the vast open space as well. (the highlight for Solon was using the wilderness restroom, if you catch my drift...) We finished with s'mores before the dads headed off to play some golf...and we all headed home! It was a fun day! Nothing says summer like a little bbq with good friends, we always try to find another date but summer weekends are BUSY for everyone, so we were lucky to get one time all together!
