Our Australian Adventure: Day 6....

Wednesday, March 7, 2012
We were so excited to head out to Blue Mountain National Park with ALL of the Malin's.  With all the travel and time changes we only had 1 full weekend with them while we were there SO we took full advantage...The Blue Mountains were listed in all of the tourist guides to see but "what" we were going to see was a bit of a mystery to us but after visiting we would say it is a must just like the travel guide says!  We headed to Scenic World which is owned privately but part of the national park.

Overlooking the beautiful views of the Blue Mountains - it was just beautiful.  And aren't the Malin's the most photogenic family?!  Seriously I was a believer after their 2011 Christmas card (so stinkin' cute!)...We headed out to the lookout here after crossing over the moutain peaks on 1 of 3 modes of transportation...after this photo shoot of our own, Josh and Raquel witnessed first hand our "celebrity" status among the Asians.  We were quickly surrounded and asked to take pictures with them...probably a good 20 photos were taken ATLEAST and all the while Raquel was dying laughing and Josh was taking photos of the crazy events that were transpiring....again we have NO idea why, Grace and Lance were not asked for their photos!  CRAZY!
After all the photos were complete we headed on a trail down in the mountainous rainforest.  We came to this beautiful pond area which this waterfall cascaded into, it was just beautiful!  The kids loved splashing around in the water and playing for a while...

Scott and Solon....
We finished our hike around and ran the last 100 yards to avoid the massive rainstorm that moved in.  We took the skyrail (see above photo) back across to grab a bite to eat and let the rain pass.  Luckily for us, it did just that and we were able to enjoy the park some more!
After lunch we took the 2nd mode of transportation (by far the scariest...) to the bottom of the mountain...Uncle Josh and Solon waiting....
There were cockatoos and parrots just flying around NATURALLY.
The whole gang...okay can you see the incline...yep we decided it was crazy scary and totally would be ILLEGAL in the USA but we got on this train that went nearly straight down the mountain...we were chain-link fenced in on 3 sides but then just a tiny little plastic chain on the final side....Scott sat with the stroller and just Raquel and I had the kids - we were hanging on to them for dear life with our eyes shut tight for the 2 minute ride...

It was worth the trip down to walk around on the rainforest boardwalk and read all the signage detailing the flora and fauna.  We also got many good views of the "3 sisters" the famous mountain peak pictured below....

Auntie Raquel and Vera...

We finished the afternoon walking the boardwalk, then taking the large gondola (similar to the Jackson Hole one) and shopped in the very economical gift store before heading home.  We were all exhausted from our busy day...and headed home to relax before our busy Sunday!
