Christmas Eve... | Perfectly Port

Christmas Eve...

Tuesday, December 27, 2011
For the 2nd year in a row, we decided to be home for the holidays and invite Scott's family this year to join us.  With little kids, it is SO nice to be home in their own beds and their routine...
We started our day off with a nice breakfast of sourdough pancakes and sausage made by Solon and Scott.  Then we finished up our Advent calendar tree by placing the angel on the top of the tree (a Wetherbee tradition) and then we finished our chocolate scripture advent (a Port tradition)...

We also had a nice raclette dinner (a swiss cheese you melt over fingerling potatoes) and hung out as a family and relaxed before skyping Grandma and Grandpa Wetherbee and Auntie Ellen who are traveling New Zealand.
We then got all gussied up to go to our church for Christmas Eve was a beautiful service that ended in passing of light by candle as we sung "Silent Night"

When we got home from church we ripped into some special presents from Grandma and Grandpa Wetherbee - our matching PJ's....we all changed and dug in to open some family gifts!
Solon was super duper excited about his trains he got from mommy and daddy...all of the other presents he opened, he asked, "Are these trains?"....I guess a boy cannot have enough trains!
Vera even got a few fun gifts (she was in need of the next size up clothing - darn :)
Then before bed Solon picked out some cookies for Santa and some celery for the reindeer...

Then we all snuggled into bed for a long winter's nap so Santa could come to our house!
