What a day....but God was present....

First of all I want to praise God for his faithfulness and for those that sent up prayers for us today.  We used every last one of them.  It was NOT the labor I expected but we are thankful to God for helping us persevere and bring our sweet, beautiful baby GIRL Vera Ann Port into the world at 5:30pm.  She weighs 7 lbs and 3 oz and is 20.5 inches long.  She has 10 perfect toes and fingers and we just LOVE her more than words can say.

She gave us quite a scare today when her heart tones starting decelerating for prolonged periods around 4pm.  She was not tolerating my contractions well.  I went on oxygen and was relegated to my left side where she was happiest (but not very happy at that).  The nurses and doctor never left my side as I continued to progress.  At 5:24pm....I finally progressed to a point where I could push but unfortunately the little gal did not want to come out whatsoever and her heartrate was at an all time low.  They told me I had to get her out in the next 5 minutes or they would be forced to do an emergency c-section for her safety.  I just knew I needed God's help and started praying that he would see us through.  I had a moment where I wanted to lose it, it is the worst feeling listening to your baby's heartrate in the 20's thinking she might be in real trouble and only you could do anything about it.

Let's just say I PUSHED like I have never pushed before, pushed my emotions aside and focused with God's strength and might....I pushed her out in 6 minutes (it felt much longer).  She popped right out "sunny side up" and screaming at the top of her lungs with the cord wrapped around her little neck.  Scott quickly searched for her "female parts" and yelled girl before they rushed her away to make sure she was okay....

Once again praise to our merciful Father for protecting our sweet girl...she was healthy and wailing like the best of 'em.  Due to the quick delivery, she did quite a number on mommy but I am happy to take this one for the team...I will heal.  She has quite a bump on her head and a nice bruise (just like her brother did) but she will heal much faster than mama!!!

We are so thankful for all your prayers and thoughts today - we know God answered each one and we praise Him for his faithful love and steadfast grace today!   More pictures and posts to come but now it is time to cuddle this sweet little blessing and enjoy his miracles of family in my life!!!!
