Some of you may not know but I love to decorate and sometimes I get in these moods (my husband just loves them because it means work for him :) and I want to redo and clean out our house :)!!!! The joys of pregnancy adds that "nesting" to it and then all bets are off...we had a cold rainy weeked in May so I talked Scott into painting Solon's new room and our accent wall in the family room with me! We had it painted a dark green that coordinated better with our old furniture and have been wanting to paint it FOR-EV-ER!
In addition I had this little wicker ottoman/bench in our guest room (now Solon's room) but it was in very bad shape with original fabric on top - I FINALLY (after 5 years) ripped it off, painted the wicker an almond color (taupish color) and recovered it with this fun fabric I got for 50% off at Hancock fabrics. I also had some extra so I made a coordinating a pillow with extra stuffing for FREE! I love the additional "female" touch it adds to the dark leather "masculine" look in our family room :) The bench stores our laptop when not in use and additional blankets and Scott loves to put his feet up and it is the perfect size for our family room. We have a coordinating coffee table but it would not work for three reasons...1. too matchy-matchy for me 2. glass-top + toddler = disaster and 3. took up too much visual space in the room....so voila!
PS I had to pick up before taking this picture - normally there are toys around but I love the table from Ikea I have under the mirror that houses Solon's toys in baskets and we turned our front coat closet into a toy closet by adding some additional shelving - that way everyday I can have a little adult space at the end of the day when it is all put away!
