"Pass the Parcel" Game for the kiddos...
The 3 Amigos - Solon hangs out a lot with these buddies...
Faith (our babysitter) and the kiddos

We LOVE our small group (they are like our in-town family :) so we decided to have a Christmas meal together!  We had the kids play a game, "Pass the Parcel" (a game I learned when I was a kid in Switzerland - you wrap a gift several times and then pass like hot potato and kids take turns unwrapping the layers).  Inside the "parcel" was a box of candy canes to share.  The kids LOVED it.  We have an amazing babysitter, Faith, who watches our kids each Monday night in our basement so we can have some time to really talk about our topic without chasing after kiddos.  She also watches our kiddos too when we go out on dates - she is AWESOME!

Christmas Day: The Port Family comes for a visit...

Thursday, December 29, 2011
We hosted Scott's parents, brother and sister-in-law, grandma and cousin for Christmas dinner at our house.  Papa barely had his coat off before Solon got him to play trains with him...they played off and on ALL day in between eating and napping :)....
I love hosting because I get to use all those fun wedding gifts I registered for about 7 years ago :)  We had a nice traditional lunch with ham, party potatoes (mom's recipe), green beans almondine, salad, rolls and Jesus' birthday cake for dessert.  We had appetizers before everyone left around 6pm!
Uncle Paul (Scott's older brother) and Aunt Angee got to meet Vera for the 1st time BUT she was in rare form ALL day for some reason so they didn't get to see her at her best, hopefully next time she will be a little more smiley!
Nana and Solon put the finishing touches on our yummy "angel food" cake for Jesus!  We all sang Him happy birthday!
Then after naps, we skyped the rest of the "Port Family" (Scott's sister's family) living in Australia and then exchanged gifts.  Vera and Solon recieved new suitcases from Nana and Papa for our Australia trip!  They will work great and will grow with them too...
We are so thankful we got to spend Christmas at home hosting our family and spending time together.  We are so thankful to celebrate our Savior's birth and appreciate all He gave to us by coming to Earth as a tiny baby destined for the cross.  We hope you had a happy Christmas as well!

Christmas Morning...

Wednesday, December 28, 2011
Santa found our house...
...and he got the memo that Solon LOVES trains and he got it right for sure!
Dashing toward his trains...
Daddy reading the note Santa left behind...
Vera opening her "first purse" from Santa filled with lots of girly girl baby toys!
...and this is how he ate breakfast and spent the rest of the morning, we even brought his clothes downstairs so he would be dressed before Nana and Papa arrived...He didn't open the rest of his santa gifts until about 6pm...:)

Christmas Eve...

Tuesday, December 27, 2011
For the 2nd year in a row, we decided to be home for the holidays and invite Scott's family this year to join us.  With little kids, it is SO nice to be home in their own beds and their routine...
We started our day off with a nice breakfast of sourdough pancakes and sausage made by Solon and Scott.  Then we finished up our Advent calendar tree by placing the angel on the top of the tree (a Wetherbee tradition) and then we finished our chocolate scripture advent (a Port tradition)...

We also had a nice raclette dinner (a swiss cheese you melt over fingerling potatoes) and hung out as a family and relaxed before skyping Grandma and Grandpa Wetherbee and Auntie Ellen who are traveling New Zealand.
We then got all gussied up to go to our church for Christmas Eve service...it was a beautiful service that ended in passing of light by candle as we sung "Silent Night"

When we got home from church we ripped into some special presents from Grandma and Grandpa Wetherbee - our matching PJ's....we all changed and dug in to open some family gifts!
Solon was super duper excited about his trains he got from mommy and daddy...all of the other presents he opened, he asked, "Are these trains?"....I guess a boy cannot have enough trains!
Vera even got a few fun gifts (she was in need of the next size up clothing - darn :)
Then before bed Solon picked out some cookies for Santa and some celery for the reindeer...

Then we all snuggled into bed for a long winter's nap so Santa could come to our house!

Boys will be Boys...

Monday, December 26, 2011
These two can tire each other out by wrestling, chasing, playing, laughing and being just plain silly...but they adore being together (luckily that is pretty often)
Luckily my camera takes quick photos because literally RIGHT after I took this they were off again...

Merry Christmas 2011...

Vera 3 Month Photo Shoot (again)...

Friday, December 23, 2011

Yep the boys went out on a "man" date and so Vera and I had ANOTHER photo shoot (courtesy of pinterest ideas :)...It is just so fun to dress 'em up at this age!

Such a Sweet Solon...

Thursday, December 22, 2011
The other day I was prepping lunch and I looked over and this is what I saw...Solon had scooched a chair over to his sister and was talking to her and playing with her...It MELTED my heart.  He is SUCH a good big brother :)

Bathtime for Little Lady...

Wednesday, December 21, 2011
This facial expression about sums up her thoughts on bathtime...neither super excited nor hates it...I had to take this picture because this was one of her last baths with the newborn hammock, she is upgrading but it makes me tear up to start putting the tiny baby stuff away - wasn't she just born? SERIOUSLY!

She does however love to smile at you as she gets dressed or her diaper  changed...

A morning in Pajamas....

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

We are normally dressed and ready for what the day has for us but every once in a while it is SO nice to have a pajama morning :)....We relax and do chores and when the mood strikes us we get dressed (normally before daddy comes home for lunch :)  But there is just something cuddly and cute about a kid in PJ's....

"Just a Little Christmas" Pageant...

Monday, December 19, 2011
I cannot believe our little man is old enough to be part of the yearly Christmas pageant at church...but he IS!  They invite all preschoolers (2 years and up) to sing the 1st and last song with the older kiddos!  Solon was a little nervous at first and the 1st practice would not go on stage, the 2nd practice 1st song had to hold mommy's hand and 2nd practice 2nd song hesitantly went up on his own with his buddy....by the performance he was asking to sing with the kids - SUCCESS!  (Now he was too in awe to sing - note his mouth hanging open - but he had fun and so did we :)

Getting ready to sing and waiting with Daddy!
Best buddies being silly while they waited - they are so hilarious together!
Solon's buddy held his hand so Solon would not be afraid (so sweet :)
Can you spot Solon....

Riding in the bug as a family - WHAT?

Sunday, December 18, 2011
So last weekend I left the ipod plugged in overnight and for some reason it didn't shut off once charged SO it drained the battery - oops!  We needed to get Solon to church for his program practice so we loaded EVERYONE (yes 2 car seats and 2 adults) into the not so family-friendly bug.  I could NOT stop laughing - it was hilarious.  It did solidify the reason poor Scott has to drive my bug - I could not do that everyday.  As you can see from the picture, Solon thought it was awesome.  He was RIGHT next to Vera!

Our new obsession....

Saturday, December 17, 2011

We got an iPad and we LOVE it (that might be an understatement)
We have to limit Solon's use but boy he is a whiz at this gadget.  He knows exactly what to do and is pretty self-sufficient which is kind of crazy at 2 years old!
Scott and I are competing in a few new games and we love the opportunity to "hang out" with google+ with the family!
