We started out our morning with some YUMMY Dunkin Doughnuts and Iced Coffee by our hotel in Columbus Circle (just south of Central Park)
Then we headed south on the subway to SOHO, Chinatown and Canal Street. I did a little bartering to score some jewelry and watches for my sister and I. No luck on finding any good purses though. After that, we headed futher south to Ground Zero and Century 21 ( a discount designer store - no luck there either).
It started raining when we got off the subway so we stopped into a little local restaurant for some REAL NYC pizza - yum!
We payed our respects at Ground Zero but there is not much to see at the moment as it is all marked off due to construction. We visited a nearby chapel that has tributes and memorials to heros and victims of 9/11. It was very moving.
We walked down to Battery Park to see to Lady Liberty. We decided to take the Stanton Island Ferry to see the statue of Liberty and the NY skyline - it was fun and free! And a great way to see all the sights with no wait time like the other cruises...
We got to sit down too - we had walked, walked, walked by this point...
After our trip to Stanton Island we took a bus over to the sea port by the Brooklyn Bridge and had some appetizers.
Then we walked to the bridge and walked part of it - it is really long so next time I think I would bike across.
Then we took the subway to Grand Central Station to admire it and the Chrysler Building.
We hopped on the connector subway to Time Square and enjoyed dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner on Time Square. The waiters/waitresses that work there are trying to get on to Broadway and sing throughout your dinner. We enjoyed the entertainment...
After dinner, we walked around a little more before collapsing into bed - we had walked, walked, walked and the next morning was an early wake-up call to make it to the today show...it was a great day #2!
